TUDOR HONORED
Choreographer Anthony Tudor has been named recipient of the 35th annual Capezio Dance Award. Choreographer emeritus of the American Ballet Theater, Tudor will receive the award on April 28 in a private ceremony at the Julliard School in New York. Tudor joined American Ballet Theater in 1940 and has created many ballets, including Romeo and Juliet, Pillar of Fire, Undertow and Jardin aux Lilas.
POETS CITED
Allen Ginsberg and Richard Eberhart today will be awarded the Frost Medal by the Poetry Society of America. Eberhart, who has published 24 books of poetry, previously won the Pulitzer and the Bollingen Prizes. Ginsberg's most recent book is Collected Poems 1947-1980. Others to receive awards in a ceremony at the society's New York City headquarters include Louise Gluck and William Harmon.
CRAWFORD AILING
Actor Broderick Crawford, 72, was reported in poor condition in a Rancho Mirage, Calif., hospital yesterday. "He's very, very ill," said Al Melnick, Crawford's longtime agent. "He's had a series of strokes, and a big one about a year ago. He just hasn't been coming along." Crawford won an Oscar in 1949 for his portrayal of a doomed politician in All the King's Men. He played the fast-talking policeman in TV's Highway Patrol from 1955-59.
ONE OF THE CROWD
Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band will raise their voices along with 450 New Jersey musicians on a new charity single. "We Got the Love," by the nonprofit Jersey Artists for Mankind '86, will be released May 16, with proceeds to help ease world hunger. E-Streeters singing along are Clarence Clemons, Nils Lofgren, Max Weinberg and Gary Tallent, as well as Southside Johnny and members of the Asbury Jukes. On the flip side, "Save Love, Save Life," will be singer Frankie Valli, among other New Jersey folks.
