A woman was killed and another was seriously injured Sunday morning when the car they were riding in was struck by another car at the intersection of Montgomery Avenue and Meeting House Lane in Penn Valley.

Margaret Robertson, 19, of the 500 block of Cynwyd Circle, Bala Cynwyd, was pronounced dead at Lankenau Hospital a few hours after the early morning accident. Aurelia Falchi, 19, of Bryn Mawr Avenue, Bala Cynwyd, was listed in stable condition yesterday at Lankenau Hospital with a broken pelvis.

The driver of the car, Nancy Nowlan, 23, of the 700 block of South Latches Lane, Merion, was not injured in the accident.

The driver of the other car, William Wendler, 21, of the 200 block of Woodbine Avenue, Penn Valley, was charged at the scene with driving under the influence and released by police. Police said Wendler received minor injuries but refused medical treatment.

According to police, the two women were passengers in a 1979 Ford Mustang driven by Nowlan that was traveling east on Montgomery Avenue at about 2:20 a.m. The car attempted to turn left onto Meeting House Lane when it was struck by a 1970 Chevrolet Nova being driven west on Montgomery Avenue by Wendler.

Police said additional charges would be filed when the investigation was completed.
