Two videotape cassettes that will go on sale in the coming months include commercials, to hold down the retail price of the tapes.
On Sept. 30, HBO Video will release the first video version of Sports Illustrated, titled Get the Feeling ($14.95). The title refers to putting fans into the action of major sports. In exchange for paying production costs, a U.S. automaker will be allowed to insert a 60-second commercial at the beginning of the tape.
On Oct. 7, Vestron plans to release Learning Football the NFL Way, which includes a 30-second commercial for Wheaties. Consumers can clip tops of cereal boxes to obtain a $10 discount off the $29.95 price.
