Marion Aubrey Cooney, 84, Of Penn Valley

Marion Aubrey Cooney, 84, of Penn Valley, died April 2 at Lankenau Hospital in Lower Merion Township. She was a homemaker for most of her life.

She was born in the Torresdale section of Philadelphia in 1904. She graduated from John W. Hallahan Catholic High School in 1920 and later that year married Francis E. Cooney, who also was from Torresdale.

A resident of the Main Line since 1950, Mrs. Cooney was a member of the American Kennel Club and was known for her expertise in obedience training for dogs. She served as a steward for numerous shows and also showed her son's Airedales.

For the last two months, Mrs. Cooney lived in the Saunders House in Lower Merion.

Her son, John Cooney of Lower Merion, said Mrs. Cooney was known to her relatives and friends for her large family get-togethers and reunions.

She is survived by two sons, William E. of Valley Forge and John A. of Lower Merion; two daughters, Marion L. Sandman of Cape May and Helen M. Ansel of Chestnut Hill; 26 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren, and a brother, John R. Aubrey of Abington.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Thursday at St. Margaret's Church in Narberth. Burial was at Westminster Cemetery in Bala Cynwyd.

Arrangements were made by the Stuart Funeral Home of Ardmore.
