West Philadelphia Explosion

A firefighter emerges from a damaged home on 56th Street near Walnut yesterday following a 1 p.m. blast in which two children and two adults were slightly injured. Police said Philadelphia Gas Works employees had been investigating a leak when the explosion occurred in the house next door. Treated for minor injuries were Anthony Brightman, 3; Kier Hunter, 1, and Walter Simpson, 82, as well as Stuart Lifferts, 21, a PGW employee. An investigation continues.
