Jones Scores Tko Of Rojas

Unbeaten North Philadelphia welterweight William "The Hammer" Jones picked up his 15th straight professional victory with a first-round technical knockout of New York City's Miguel Rojas last night at the Blue Horizon.

Jones floored Rojas with a straight right to the chin for a mandatory eight-count midway into the first round. Shortly after Jones resumed his attack, referee Ray Paquette stopped the bout at 2 minutes, 16 seconds of the first round, and awarded Jones (15-0) his 13th knockout victory, seventh in the first round.

Rojas fell to 7-2-1, with four knockouts.

On the undercard, Germantown light-heavyweight Ed Mack ran his record to 12-1-1 (seven knockouts) with a unanimous, eight-round decision over Anthony Williams (4-4) of Millville, N.J.

Middleweight "Lightning" Joe Gatti of Jersey City, N.J., scored a technical knockout at 1:18 of the first round against Muhammad Shabazz (15-12, six knockouts) of Hartford, Conn. Gatti (13-2, 11 knockouts) scored two knockdowns in the opening round.

Broomall middleweight Damon Feldman (7-0, four knockouts) knocked out Alex Caraballo (3-2, one knockout) of Hartford, Conn., at 1:09 of the first round in their scheduled six-round bout.
