Join hands with thousands of your neighbors on Unity Day, Philadelphia's largest celebration of cultural diversity, to be held Aug. 18 on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway. The event is the centerpiece of Unity Weekend '91.
Jazz, gospel and other music will fill the air, blended with the aroma of barbecued chicken and other culinary delights. There will be children's amusement rides, a chess challenge, a softball contest and other activities.
The stretch from the Museum of Art to Logan Circle will also be packed with booths and vendors representing 200 local community organizations. The day will climax with a concert by Phyllis Hyman, Maze and Frankie Beverly. Events will run from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. Admission is free.
