Terminal Work Ahead Of Schedule?

Posted: May 06, 1992

The Reading Terminal market and train shed renovation may be finished a couple of months ahead of time.

The Pennsylvania Convention Center Authority yesterday decided to pay the contractor an additional $200,000 to complete the project 60 days early. The new availability date for the renovated shed and market is December 1993.

The authority accepted the low bid of $54 million from Dick Enterprises for the project.

The project was rebid after initial bids last December were 25 percent over budget.

Dick also is the contractor for the convention center exhibit hall at 13th and Arch streets.

The shed will house meeting rooms and a ballroom. It's scheduled for its first use in March 1994.
