Scranton Edges Pawtucket

MOOSIC, Pa. — Mike Lieberthal scored the winning run when shortstop Tim Naehring apparently forgot how many outs there were in the bottom of the 12th inning, allowing the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Red Barons to defeat the Pawtucket Red Sox, 4-3, last night in the International League.

Pawtucket had just intentionally walked Ruben Amaro to load the bases for Victor Rodriguez with one out. Rodriguez grounded to Naehring, who had time to

throw to the plate for a force or start an inning-ending double play. Instead, Naehring looked toward first and wound up holding the ball once he realized the mistake, which gave Rodriguez a game-winning single.
