The Fir Tree opens at Hedgerow Children's Theatre in Rose Valley at 11 a.m. Saturday. The play, which features original music, is an adaptation of the
Hans Christian Andersen classic about a little fir tree that could not wait to grow up.
The play will be performed on Saturday mornings until Dec. 18, and special Wednesday performances are scheduled for 11 a.m. Dec. 22 and 29.

* Madeline, the children's book character, will appear at Borders Book Shop in Springfield for the store's "Vive la France" celebration at 11 a.m. Saturday. * The Marple Newtown Players Children's Theatre will present The Reluctant Dragon Saturday and Sunday at the Gauntlett Community Center. The show, directed by George Spence, tells about a boy who meets a poetry-writing dragon. It features a cast of 15.
