CALN * A four-foot-long boa constrictor was found in the 200 block of Atkins Avenue at 10:40 p.m. Sunday after a resident reported seeing a snake. Police caught the snake and turned it over to the owner of a local pet store.

COATESVILLE * Charges of robbery and simple assault were filed against Steven Joseph Humphrey, 27, of the 200 block of Church Street, Valley Township, after police said he beat up his girlfriend twice on July 10. She told police that as she was walking in the 500 block of Coates Street that morning, he punched her.

She flagged down a friend's car and drove off. Later that day, she told police, he approached her in the 500 block of Blackhorse Hill Road and asked for money, then punched her several times when she refused. She gave him about $35. She was treated at Brandywine Hospital for bruises.

Humphrey, also charged with theft, receiving stolen property, harassment, stalking and disorderly conduct, was sent to Chester County Prison after failing to post bail.

* A 52-year-old Valley Township man reported being assaulted by two men outside the VFW hall, 109 N. Seventh Ave., at 1:40 a.m. last Friday. He was treated at Brandywine Hospital for eye and facial injuries.

* A pocketbook containing cigarettes, credit cards, keys and a checkbook was reported stolen from a home in the 300 block of West Lincoln Highway between 10 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. July 9.

* An air conditioner was reported stolen from a window in the 800 block of East Chestnut Street between July 8 and 11.

EAST GOSHEN * In-line skates, a car stereo and clothes, valued together at $500, were reported stolen July 9 from a vehicle in the 2600 block of Valley Drive.

EAST MARLBOROUGH * Rocks were thrown from the Walnut Road overpass onto a car traveling on Route 1 at 6:45 p.m. July 10, state police at Avondale said. A car window was smashed.

EAST NOTTINGHAM * A car engine was reported stolen from a garage along Baltimore Pike between 5:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. July 11, state police at Avondale said.

EAST WHITELAND * A television and a telephone were reported stolen from a mobile home in the 500 block of Lancaster Avenue between July 2 and 6.

SOUTH COATESVILLE * Three rings were reported stolen from a home in the first block of Bay Street between July 3 and 11, state police at Embreeville said.

TREDYFFRIN * A laptop computer, valued at $4,200, was reported stolen July 11 from Great-West Life Assurance Co., 1265 Drummers Lane, Wayne. The owner said it had been missing since May.

* A television set and CD player, valued together at $1,200, were reported stolen from Devon Consulting, 950 West Valley Rd., Wayne, at 10:30 a.m. Monday. There was no sign of forced entry.

* A Kenwood stereo, two speakers and a bass tuba, valued together at $400, were reported stolen from a car at a home in the 900 block of Radnor Road, Wayne, at 6:43 a.m. last Friday.

* An Alpine CD player/radio, valued at $600, was reported stolen from an unlocked car in the driveway of a home in the first block of Briar Road, Strafford, at 9:29 a.m. Tuesday.

UWCHLAN * An incident of indecent exposure was reported at the Pennypacker Swim Club at 2:30 p.m. July 10. Police said a man walked through a wooded area, approached a play area at the club, and fondled himself in front of a woman who was watching her children.

WARWICK * A trailer on Sunrise Lane was broken into July 11, state police at Embreeville said. The walls and furniture were sprayed with white paint.

WEST BRADFORD * Several cars on Bent Oak Trail, Hall Road and Sherwood Road were broken into late July 10 or early the next day, state police at Embreeville said. Change was reported stolen.

WEST CHESTER * Charges of theft and burglary were filed at 10 p.m. July 10 against James London, 58, of no known address, in connection with the theft of a television set and a videocassette recorder from a home in the first block of West Barnard Street. London was also charged with trespassing.

He was arraigned before District Justice Harry Farmer and sent to Chester County Prison after failing to post $3,000 cash bail. A preliminary hearing was set for today before District Justice Dawson Muth.

* A charge of theft was filed against Brian Douglas Allen, 35, of the 300 block of East Marshall Street, in connection with the removal of an air conditioner from a window in the first block of South Church Street early July 10. Allen, who was also charged with receiving stolen property, was arraigned before District Justice Rita Arnold and sent to Chester County Prison after failing to post 10 percent of $3,000 bail. A preliminary hearing was set for Tuesday before District Justice Dawson Muth.

WEST GOSHEN * A chain saw was reported stolen July 9 from a shed in the 1300 block of Pottstown Pike.

WEST NOTTINGHAM * Two cars at Camp Horseshoe were broken into between 3:30 p.m. last Friday and 2:20 a.m. Saturday, state police at Avondale said. Reported stolen were a phone and clothes.

WEST WHITELAND * Items valued at about $15,000 were reported stolen during a break-in at Bartlett Tree Experts on Phoenixville Pike between 11 a.m. Sunday and 7:20 a.m. Monday.

* A 1991 Buick Regal, valued at $14,000, was reported stolen from Bala Terrace late July 11 or early the next day. It was found in a ditch along Ravine Road, East Bradford, at 10 a.m. last Friday.

* Two cars were broken into at the Exton Square mall last Friday. A phone and a personal stereo were reported stolen from one, and books, clothes and computer games from the other.

DUI ARRESTS * The following people were arrested on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol. State law prohibits driving with a blood-alcohol content of 0.100 percent or greater. Refusal to submit to alcohol testing results in a one-year suspension of driving privileges.

* Steven Lee Slaymaker, 21, of the 300 block of West Main Street, Parkesburg, was arrested at 3:25 a.m. June 22 in the 300 block of Strasburg Avenue, Parkesburg, after police said he was involved in a series of fights. He was also charged with driving while his license was suspended, careless driving, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness. He gave blood at Brandywine Hospital for blood-alcohol analysis.

* Ismael Rivera, 41, of Wilmington, was arrested at 7:30 p.m. July 9 after police said they saw him drinking beer while driving along Gap-Newport Pike (Route 41) near Penn Green Road, New Garden.

* Roberto Arellano, 23, of the Meadowlake Apartments, Caln, was arrested at 12:45 a.m. July 11 after police saw him driving erratically on Lincoln Highway at James Buchanan Drive, Caln. He refused blood-alcohol testing.

* Peggy Murtha, 31, of Paoli, was stopped after police saw her driving erratically on Lancaster Avenue near Route 252, Tredyffrin, at 11:35 p.m. July 11. She failed field sobriety tests and gave blood at Paoli Memorial Hospital for blood-alcohol testing.

* Douglas W. Beach, 34, of Radnor, was stopped after police saw him driving erratically on Route 202 near West Valley Road, Tredyffrin, at 2:03 a.m. last Friday. He failed field sobriety tests and refused blood-alcohol testing.

* Joseph W. McCloskey, 50, of Philadelphia, was stopped after police saw him driving erratically on Valley Forge Road near Swedesford Road, Tredyffrin, at 2:58 a.m. last Friday. He failed field sobriety tests and gave blood at Paoli Memorial Hospital for blood-alcohol testing.

* Victor Leon, 32, of West Chester, was stopped after police saw him driving erratically on Route 202, Tredyffrin, at 3:26 a.m. last Friday.. He failed field sobriety tests and gave blood at Paoli Memorial Hospital for blood-alcohol testing.

* Vincent S. Giambrone, 43, of Central Avenue, Berwyn, was charged after he was involved in a minor car accident on Berwyn Baptist Road at Castlewood Drive, Tredyffrin, at 1:38 p.m. last Friday. He failed field sobriety tests and gave blood at Paoli Memorial Hospital for blood-alcohol testing.

* David J. Downey Jr., 50, of the 1400 block of Valley Road, Valley Township, was arrested at 4:45 p.m. last Friday after police saw him run a red light at Strode Avenue and Valley Road, Coatesville. He gave blood at Brandywine Hospital for blood-alcohol analysis.

* Jean Turner, 38, of West Chester, was arrested at 8:50 p.m. last Friday after she was involved in a minor crash in the parking lot of the Golf Club Apartments on West Chester Pike, West Goshen.

* Larry Lee Bonsall, 55, of the 300 block of West Washington Street, West Chester, was arrested at 10:30 p.m. last Friday after police saw him run a red light at Market and Matlack Streets, West Chester. He failed field sobriety tests.

* Kathryn Casano of the 100 block of Cotton Street, Philadelphia, was arrested at 1:45 a.m. Saturday after police saw her driving the wrong way in the 100 block of East Market Street. She failed field sobriety tests and refused blood-alcohol testing.

* Laurie Lynn Duncan, 35, of the 800 block of Doe Run Road, East Fallowfield, was arrested at 1:15 a.m. Sunday after police saw her car weaving in the 1800 block to the 1300 block of Lincoln Highway, Caln. She failed field sobriety tests and gave blood at Brandywine Hospital for blood-alcohol analysis.
