Posted: October 17, 1996

Educators are invited to learn more about the programs and facilities of the Mercer, Fonthill and James A. Michener Art Museums during an open house starting at 4:30 p.m. Oct. 29.

The event will include an opportunity to visit the Michener's new wing and a free audio guide tour through the Mercer Museum. Also, staff from each of the institutions will introduce teachers to the museums' various services and activities.

The free event is open to all educators. Reservations should be made by Wednesday.

For information, call 215-345-0210. The museums are in Doylestown Borough.

MEDICAL CAREER NIGHT * Bucks County Community College will offer an information evening for those interested in its associate degree programs in medical-assistant training and in ``pre-allied health,'' or initial courses in the health field.

At 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, BCCC faculty and staff will provide information on the two programs and related careers. Tours of the labs and facilities also will be offered.

The medical-assistant program provides administrative and clinical training for students. In a work setting, a medical assistant's duties include keeping records, managing finances, handling insurance claims, assisting with patients' examination, and recording laboratory data.

The school's pre-allied health program provides the initial courses for students who plan further specialization or advanced degrees in health.

For information, call 215-968-8325 or 215-968-8173. The event will be in Room 140 of Founders Hall on the college's Newtown Township campus.

FIGARO PERFORMANCES * George School's advanced drama classes will present The Marriage of Figaro at 8 p.m. Wednesday and Oct. 25. The performances are free and open to the public.

The show is not an opera, but instead the students are performing the original play, adapted by contemporary playwright Richard Nelson. The performances also will offer an amalgam of traditional and contemporary interpretations of the play.

The performances will be at the school's Walton Center. For information, call 215-579-6500. The school is on Route 413 in Newtown Township.
