Moorestown's Ramage Chooses Bucknell

Moorestown senior Jake Ramage, whose recruiting stock soared after his strong showing in summer basketball leagues and tournaments, has decided to play at Bucknell.

The 6-foot-4 shooting guard made an oral commitment Monday, said Moorestown coach Steve McGair.

As a member of the Patriot League, Bucknell doesn't offer scholarships, but McGair said Ramage had turned down ``at least a half dozen'' Division I offers.

``He wanted Bucknell because of its academic reputation,'' McGair said. ``He also was impressed with the basketball program.''

Ramage became the second Moorestown boys' basketball player to commit to a Division I school this fall. Last month, 6-7 Colin Haynes signed with Maine.

As a junior, Ramage averaged 12.5 points a game. He then improved his game during the summer.

``We went to a 32-team Metro-Con-

verse Classic at Fairleigh Dickinson, and Jake drew a lot of college attention,'' McGair said. ``He scored 29 points in a game against Paterson Catholic, and we were surrounded by college coaches afterwards. He kept having big performances all summer.''

In addition to Bucknell, Ramage visited Hofstra, Colgate and Lehigh.

``He is one of the best shooters around, can run the floor, and can jump out of the building,'' McGair said. ``He's such a hard worker, and I think he'll be very successful at the next level.''
