Posted: April 14, 1997

Norman K. ``Doc'' Boudwin, 80, a longtime Beverly City family practitioner, died Friday at Memorial Hospital of Burlington County, Mount Holly.

A Florence resident since 1981, he had previously lived in Beverly for about 35 years. He was born in Philadelphia and raised in Moorestown, where he graduated from Moorestown High School.

Dr. Boudwin had his practice in Beverly for more than 40 years, routinely making house calls right up until retiring in 1988.

From the time he was a young boy, Dr. Boudwin had wanted to be a doctor, recalled his son, Dr. N. Kenneth Boudwin Jr. ``He had always wanted to help people. He loved his practice. He never did appointments because he said you never know if a patient will need five or 25 minutes.''

Dr. Boudwin was a past president of the Burlington County Chapter of the New Jersey Medical Society.

A World War II veteran, he served as an Army physician in France and the European theater.

He was a 1942 graduate of Hahnemann Medical School in Philadelphia.

He had served on the Beverly Board of Education.

A 25-year member of the Fountain of Life Center Church in Florence, he served on the church board as an elder for 20 years. He had traveled on several missionary trips, using his medical skills to help the poor in underdeveloped Latin American countries. He also had participated in the church's bus ministries, and its addiction, family counseling and fellowship-group leadership programs.

He was a 50-year member of the Beverly Rotary, which he served as president from 1970 to 1971, and was a Paul Harris Fellow.

In addition to his son, he is survived by another son, the Rev. David B.; six grandchildren; and a sister. He was the widower of Jean DeBow Boudwin.

Friends may call from 6 p.m. today at the Fountain of Life Center Church, Columbus Road, Florence Township, where memorial services will begin at 7:30 p.m. and burial services will be 10 a.m. tomorrow. Burial will be in Lakeview Memorial Park, Cinnaminson.
