WICHITA FALLS, Texas — The statement that was to be issued by Dallas Cowboys guard Everett McIver will be postponed until later this week, team owner Jerry Jones said. McIver was expected to issue the statement yesterday.
McIver is expected to speak on several subjects, including his relationship with teammate Michael Irvin and his future with the Cowboys. He is also expected to address a news report that Jones negotiated a deal with Irvin to pay McIver for his silence about a July 29 incident that left McIver with a cut on his neck. Sources have said Irvin inflicted the wound to McIver with a pair of scissors.
