Elizabeth J.m. Ebert, 76, Robert Morris Descendant

Elizabeth J. Morris Ebert, 76, a retired New Jersey state employee who was a descendant of a signer of the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution, died Saturday at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in Hamilton Township, N.J. She had moved to Hamilton Township from Morrisville in 1974.

Mrs. Ebert was born in Morrisville, a direct descendant of Robert Morris, for whom Morrisville Borough was named. He was one of only six people who signed both the Declaration and the Constitution.

A graduate of Trenton Central High School, she retired in 1979 after five years as a data-entry clerk for the State of New Jersey's Department of Labor and Industry in Trenton. She previously held a similar position with the New Jersey Education Association.

She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Morrisville, where she had taught Sunday school and belonged to the Esther Circle organization for women.

Surviving are her husband of 58 years, Edward L. Ebert; children, Edward L., Robert W. and Marilyn J.; a sister; and a granddaughter.

Friends may call after 11 a.m. today, and a funeral will be held at noon in Hutchinson Memorial Chapel of First Presbyterian Church of Morrisville. Burial will be in Morrisville Cemetery, Anderson and South Pennsylvania Avenues.
