SAN JOSE, Calif. — Jeff Cunningham scored two goals to carry the Columbus Crew to a 2-1 victory over the San Jose Clash yesterday.
The win vaulted the Crew over D.C. United and back into first place in MLS' Eastern Conference by one point. D.C. had taken the lead by beating New York/New Jersey on Saturday.
Cunningham, making only his second start of the season, broke a scoreless tie in the 17th minute. Jamie Clark countered in the 38th minute for the Clash, making the score 1-1. Cunningham notched the game-winner in the 70th minute.
