Delco And Chesco Groups Plan Fall Fairs

After an August hiatus, the calendar will start filling with business fairs sponsored by Delaware and Chester County business organizations.

The Greater West Chester Chamber of Commerce is planning its third annual trade expo, coupled for the first time with a health fair, for Sept. 15 at the West Chester Area YMCA. Call 610-696-4046 for details on free seminars and exhibiting.

In October, the Small Business Association of Delaware Valley in Marple and the Southern Chester County Chamber of Commerce are planning events.

The Delaware Valley organization will hold its 16th annual women's conference, coupled with a business-to-business expo, Oct. 20 at the Convention Center. Call 800-533-3732 to learn more about this combined program.

The Southern Chester County chamber will hold its third annual business expo Oct. 28 at the Red Clay Room, a banquet facility in Kennett Square. Call 610-444-0774 for exhibiting information.

UP THE LADDER * Michael R. Imbriani of Berwyn has been promoted to vice president and general manager of PQ Corp.'s industrial chemicals group. He is responsible for the company's industrial chemical businesses worldwide and for joint ventures in Colombia, Europe, Mexico and Taiwan. He also manages PQ's materials and transportation department. PQ, based in Valley Forge, also has promoted Jerry E. Sheridan of West Chester to vice president and chief financial officer. Sheridan joined PQ in 1996 as manager of operations support and was named director of finance in 1998.

ON THE INTERNET * Realtime Media Inc. in Haverford, an Internet promotion and sweepstakes company founded in 1994, has named Scott B. Shapiro of Bala Cynwyd its new president and Thomas Smith of West Chester senior vice president of marketing and business development. Founder Chuck Seidman of Merion will remain chief executive.

ON BOARD * Peter S. Bodenheimer of Radnor, senior vice president of investments for Pennsylvania Merchants Group, has been elected chairman of the board for Woods Services, a nonprofit organization in Langhorne serving people with developmental disabilities. He joined the board in 1987.

* Jane K. Stimmler, principal of Marketing Edge LLC in Havertown, has been named chairwoman of the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce small-business board. The board represents small-business members, who comprise 85 percent of the group's membership.

BACK TO SCHOOL * C. Richard Peterson of Bryn Mawr, a retired insurance executive, will serve for two years as the executive-in-residence at Widener University's School of Business Administration. He will share his professional outlook with students and faculty. Peterson retired in 1997 as chief executive of the North American unit of Minot Holdings, an insurance business based in London.

ARCHITECTURE * Donald Rehmann of Upper Darby has joined Architectural Concepts in Exton as a project architect.
