John J. Staub, 69, Teacher, Music Director

John J. Staub, 69, a retired language teacher and church music director, died Friday at his Levittown home after an illness.

He taught English and Spanish in the Bristol Township School District for 30 years and, after retiring from the district, taught Spanish at Holy Ghost Preparatory School in Bensalem for several years.

Mr. Staub also was a piano teacher and professional musician.

He had been music director and organist at Immaculate Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church in the Andorra section of Philadelphia and at Queen of the Universe Roman Catholic Church in Levittown, where he was a member.

A native of Philadelphia, he graduated from St. Thomas More High School and earned bachelor's and master's degrees at La Salle College.

He had resided in Levittown for 42 years.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Maria Lilia Garza-Doria Staub; daughters, Lily Rodzwic, Rosemary Begley, Edna Galloway and Laura Jennings; three sisters; and 13 grandchildren.

Friends may call after 9:30 a.m. today and a Funeral Mass will be said at 10:30 a.m. at Queen of the Universe Church, 2443 Trenton Rd. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery, 5201 Hulmeville Rd., Bensalem.
