Guess marriage and motherhood haven't mellowed Madonna all that much. The New York Post reports that the Material Matron stormed out of the Grammy Awards ceremony in disgust last week after losing out three times, to Macy Gray, Steely Dan and U2. Madonna, up for album of the year, record of the year and female pop vocal performance, became increasingly agitated, witnesses say, as her hopes for an award went down the drain.

"When they announced that Steely Dan won album of the year, she just had this look on her face - like she couldn't believe it," one source told the Daily News. "When it was announced that U2 got the record of the year, she'd had it and got up and left just as U2 was taking the stage for their acceptance speech."

Madonna rep Liz Rosenberg denied Madonna left out of pique. "She was always planning on leaving after the third award she was nominated for, as she was having a romantic dinner with her husband," director Guy Ritchie.

Still killing 'em

* Elvis-impersonating thugs and a cartoon monkey were no match for Hannibal Lecter. Hannibal, the sequel to The Silence of the Lambs, held the top box-office spot for the third straight weekend, taking in $15.8 million, according to studio estimates yesterday. The serial-killer flick has grossed $128.5 million in just 17 days. The new movies 3000 Miles to Graceland and Monkeybone, both poorly received by critics, had meager debuts.

Graceland, with Kevin Costner and Kurt Russell as casino thieves disguised as Elvis impersonators, opened in fourth place with $7.1 million. Monkeybone, starring Brendan Fraser in a combination of live action and animation, had a debut of $2.6 million, finishing in 11th place.

Term of endearment

*Former Nebraska senator and erstwhile presidential candidate Bob Kerrey married his longtime companion Sarah Paley in a New York ceremony on Friday. Kerrey, a 57-year-old Democrat, served two terms in the U.S. Senate before deciding not to seek reelection last year. Paley, a New Yorker and former writer for Saturday Night Live, likely was an influence on his decision to become president of New School University in New York. Kerrey had been a bachelor since divorcing his wife 22 years ago. He dated actress Debra Winger during the filming of Terms of Endearment in Lincoln when he was Nebraska governor in the early 1980s.
