LETTERS The courts and law & order

WHO IS Judge Frederica Massiah-Jackson kidding? Does she think anyone cares about "parameters of the rules of professional conduct and the code of civility"? We all know most lawyers don't care. What I and columnist Michael Smerconish and most normal citizens in Philadelphia care about is whether or not we have idiots serving on our benches. Thanks to Michael, we know we have at least one. Lisa Rau should let this thug and felon live in her house.

The father of Shannon Schieber has intimated that his daughter would still be alive if the police had broken down her door after they were called to her apartment by the call reporting a "woman screaming." The police did their job correctly, having not heard any noise or screaming. Yet he wants the door kicked down!

Can't you just imagine Stefan Presser of the ACLU, and other attorneys waiting in the wings, all salivating over the suggestion that police break doors down?

Attorneys would give up ambulance-chasing to get in on this new source of income! The ACLU would have people standing by in the courts, just waiting to file civil rights lawsuits. All would be merry for the esquires! Would they volunteer to repair the doors? Not on your life! Shady contractors would get in on the action by overcharging to repair the door that the city would be forced to pay for. Great idea - for everyone but the city!
