A mom and dad are needed to adopt Shadiyah. She always asks her social worker, "Did you find me a family yet?"
Shadiyah, 13, would like to be part of a loving family and very much wants both a mother and a father.
She's hoping they will let her take care of any family pets, and she promises she will be responsible and loving in her duties. She would enjoy being a veterinarian's assistant in the future.
Though Shadiyah is in good health, she takes medication for an attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and for asthma. Therapy is being provided for life skills and issues related to the neglect and loss she has experienced.
Shadiyah is in sixth-grade special-education classes and functions on a second-grade level. Testing shows that she has mild mental retardation.
Shadiyah is eligible for financial subsidy. She should be allowed to maintain contact with a sibling.
