Washington Township (10-1) and Shawnee (9-2) were originally scheduled to play last night, but snowfall Thursday caused the game to initially be moved to this afternoon. Yesterday, Township decided to again postpone the game.
"We had 50 people working on the field today, but it's just not ready," Township athletic director Kevin Murphy said.
Two sectional finals will be held at 1 this afternoon: Florence (9-2) at Paulsboro (11-0) in Group 1, and Buena (9-2) at West Deptford (10-1) in Group 2. The Group 3 final between Mainland (10-1), No. 1 in The Inquirer's South Jersey rankings, and host Delsea (11-0) will be played tomorrow at 1 p.m.
In the Group 1 matchup, Paulsboro running back Isaac Redman will be playing the final game of his career. Redman has rushed for 1,999 yards this season and 5,041 in his career. He is 339 yards shy of the all-time South Jersey rushing record of 5,380 yards, set by Ocean City's Kevin Sinclair.
