Gay-sex story: More views

Posted: April 14, 2003

I KNEW IT wouldn't be long until the Daily News was hammered with reaction to the April 3 article "Looking for Love in Public Places." Predictably, the piece was taken as anti-gay.

A message to letter-writers Young, Corcoran and Mitchell: Most people don't care if you are gay. Its your life, your choice.

The issue is gay sex in public places. It happens, it is inappropriate - and it is newsworthy. As a father of two young boys, I have the right to know if my children may be exposed to situations that I feel are inappropriate. I and many others feel sex in public areas, gay or straight, is inappropriate.

I commend the Daily News for bringing this issue to light and suggest that the gay community not be so ultrasensitive when negative aspects of their community are made public.

I was glad to see your paper exposing the disgusting act of having anonymous sex in a public place. But it disturbed me that the target of the article was the gay community.

The article made it seem that gay people were nothing but Cro-magnons with uncontrollable hormones. The same type of acts are committed by heterosexual people on the streets of Philadelphia everyday. But I guess prostitution is acceptable if it is heterosexual.
