The Eagles & the Cataldi outrage

July 30, 2003

WIP's Angelo Cataldi said nothing wrong.

Is WIP afraid of the Eagles? Ever hear of hyperbole?

This attitude reflects what been happening to the pro sports scene for years. Stadiums like Connie Mack, and even the Vet in the beginning, were built for the masses, not to weed out the blue-collar spectators, who really are the backbone of this city.

Who can afford to go to these games anymore? My father had season tickets for the Flyers from Day One in 1967.

Story continues below.

In the early '90s, he had to give it up because he could no longer afford them. Imagine all the money he spent on the Flyers, over that period, and this is how they thank him? It goes to show you how much the organizations care about loyalty, or anything else for that matter.

So the Eagles Inc. can have their country club. I'd rather drive to Ohio this season and attend the Seahawks vs. Bengals game. At least they won't gouge the hell out of me!

Sticks & stones

First the Eagles ban hoagies for our "protection" - now they have a hand in banning First Amendment rights?

The suspension of Angelo Cataldi, under pressure from the Eagles front office, is an outrage.

Cataldi's comments associating the Eagles Security and the BYO food ban, with Nazism was an opinion! I'll refrain myself from calling them the same for fear that I'll be suspended from the games. On second thought, what do I care?

After 20 years of faithful attendance, I now refuse to attend!

Nazis!

So, if the Eagles are not playing in the stadium on Aug. 3 for the Manchester United vs. Barcelona soccer game - does that mean the soccer fans can bring food to the game?
