The last time the Eagles were on Monday Night Football, Sept. 20, she asked Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Randy Moss and the Eagles' Terrell Owens who was better, eliciting a politically correct response from Owens and a boast from Moss.
She also reported that Tammy Reid pushed her husband, Eagles coach Andy Reid, to work for a four-year deal rather than the three-year offer in his contract extension.
Tafoya will be on the sideline when the Eagles play the Cowboys in Dallas on Monday night, looking to deliver the scoop. She took time to speak about her job and her expectations for the Eagles.
Question: Is Terrell Owens a great entertainer or a disgrace to the NFL? Which category do you put him in?
A: I don't know if he can be categorized. I find him amusing and entertaining. I watched him rip the banners down in Cleveland and I was laughing hysterically. He's a lightning rod. He's a performer.
Q: He said the NFL doesn't want him as the face of the league. Is that true?
A: I think in ways he does promote the league. Whether he wants to be or not, in this generation, he is leading off SportsCenter. He may not be the poster boy the NFL wants him to be, but he is a face in the NFL.
Q: Dallas Cowboys receiver Keyshawn Johnson said he wanted to "spank" Fox sideline reporter Pam Oliver with a ruler for reporting his sideline feud with an assistant coach. Was he out of line?
A: Criticism is one thing. Saying you want to take a ruler to someone is way out of line. If you have a gripe with a reporter, there's a way to handle it. That was completely unprofessional. I'm anxious to talk to him this week, hopefully without a ruler in his hand.
I've never looked at it as female reporter versus a male reporter. But I just can't imagine him saying this to a male reporter, if it was Tony Siragusa or something. He sort of made it a gender thing instead of being upset with the report.
Q: Do you need to prove yourself as a female sports journalist in a male-dominated profession?
