Simoneau status still unclear

The Eagles' linebacker picture still isn't clear for tomorrow's game against the visiting Redskins.

Neither Mark Simoneau (concussion) nor Nate Wayne (hamstring) practiced yesterday. Both are considered game-day decisions. Wayne is listed as doubtful; Simoneau is questionable.

Linebacker Keith Adams practiced for the first time this week, after sitting out with an ankle injury. He is listed as probable.

Simoneau may be the biggest question mark.

"We'll see how he feels," coach Andy Reid said. "He just has to be thinking clearly. We'll need to make sure he's tested out right."

Adams and Ike Reese are expected to play in place of Wayne.

Guard Jermane Mayberry is still questionable for tomorrow with a calf strain.

"His calf has been a little bit tight," Reid said. "He had it worked on [yesterday] morning and he felt pretty good out there" at practice.

Running back/punt returner Reno Mahe is out with an ankle injury. Defensive end Jerome McDougle is out with a knee injury.

Short week. The Eagles had little time to prepare for the Redskins. But with three Monday night games this season, the Birds are getting used to it. Such a short workweek, Reid said, takes a toll mentally and physically.

"Your body's timetable is sped up just a little bit," he said. "You're still a little sore as you get into Wednesday. Normally, you start getting back to yourself by Thursday and Friday. Mentally, you just make sure that you catch up on the game plan from a coaching standpoint."

Linebacker Dhani Jones said the Eagles can't afford a letdown.

"Everyone knows we're the ones to beat," he said. "I love the last half of the season because I think I get stronger."
