Habitat plans tsunami aid

Posted: January 14, 2005

Habitat for Humanity of Bucks County will donate $10,664 to tsunami victims in Asia and plans an equivalent contribution within a few months, the agency said.

The sum amounts to 10 percent of the New Britain-based affiliate's unrestricted funds from fourth-quarter 2004.

Habitat Bucks will also donate 10 percent of 2005's first-quarter earnings to tsunami victims via Habitat for Humanity International, which is already on the ground in Sri Lanka, India, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia and Bangladesh.

Habitat for Humanity affiliates in the United States regularly give 10 percent of unrestricted donations to global efforts to eliminate poverty and create housing.
