LETTERS Bad advice, Harry

Posted: February 15, 2005

SO, HARRY S. GROSS, reputed "financial adviser," thinks it's a bad idea to replace Social Security for future generations with something that, on average, pays significantly more than 1.2 percent.

Glad I haven't asked his advice on my retirement plans.

As soon as personal accounts are put in place, I intend to opt OUT of Social Security.

To everybody staying with it, I say: Enjoy your meager retirement as long as possible.
