Thunder rained on by Reading

The Reading Phillies jumped out to a five-run lead after three innings en route to a 5-3 win over the Trenton Thunder last night in an Eastern League game at Citizens Bank Park.

Randy Ruiz hit an RBI single in the first inning, Brian Hitchcox a two-run home run in the second, and Jim Deschaine a two-run double in the third for Reading.

Righthander Chris Rojas worked 5 2/3 innings and allowed two runs for the win.

Pawtucket 4, Scranton/W-B 3

MOOSIC, Pa. - The Red Sox scratched out a run on a walk and sacrifice bunt in the top of the 10th to edge the Red Barons in an International League game.

The Red Barons took a two-run lead into the eighth inning, but Amaury Telemaco gave up a double and two singles as Pawtucket tied the score.

Lynchburg 7, Wilmington 5

WILMINGTON - The Hillcats hammered two home runs and a pair of doubles on their way to a Carolina League win over the Blue Rocks.

Wilmington catcher Jeffrey Ontiveros hit his fourth homer of the year in the fourth inning.

Lakewood 9, Kannapolis 3

KANNAPOLIS, N.C. - The BlueClaws erupted for five runs in the top of the fourth inning to pull away from the Intimidators in a South Atlantic League game. BlueClaws starter James Happ (2-1) picked up the win.
