The Wings couldn't hold off Arizona yesterday, falling, 13-12, in a National Lacrosse League game at the Wachovia Center.

The Wings led after one quarter, and the game was tied, 9-9, after Jake Bergey's goal early in the fourth period.

But Arizona responded with goals by Lindsay Plunkett, Curt Malawsky and Craig Conn to take the lead for good.

Jeff Ratcliffe pulled the Wings to within two with six minutes remaining. Dan Marohl added a final goal with goalie Matt Roik pulled for an extra attacker, but the Wings couldn't force overtime.

Conn led the Sting (6-5) with three goals. Dan Dawson added a goal and six assists.

Marohl paced the Wings (6-6) with two goals and two assists. Marc Morley and Ratcliffe each added two goals.

"We just had a couple of moments where we didn't seem to be ready for some pressure, and it cost us," Wings coach Lindsay Sanderson said.
