At a recent press event for M. Night Shyamalan's "Lady in the Water," opening Friday, the locally based director told our Gary Thompson that he may soon start shooting elsewhere.
Asked if he would ever leave Philadelphia to make a movie, Shyamalan said, "Yeah, I might. Now that the girls [ages 6 and 9] are older, we might be able to go somewhere. It's just hard . . . I'm not the guy that can go away for six months.
"We just went away for a month now, and it was an amazing experience. We were out in the country, the boonies, out in France. These people have one video store for, like, seven towns.
"It was great to talk, hear, and start thinking like that. It's important, because you can start to write songs that don't mean anything to anyone but yourself."

The New York Daily News reports that Diana Bianchi, the teenager so lusted after by 47-year-old Peter Cook that he wrecked his marriage to Christie Brinkley, is now considering suing Cook, her lawyer, Joseph Tacopina, said Sunday.
Cook caused "substantial and irreparable harm" when he showered Bianchi, an aspiring singer, with pricey gifts, like a car, and then seduced her, the lawyer said.
