Howard: Haven't clicked yet

Posted: March 20, 2007

CLEARWATER, Fla. - Ryan Howard is hitting .306 this spring, but does not consider himself ready yet for 2007.

"I'm still not comfortable," he said after yesterday's 5-1 loss to the Pittsburgh Pirates at Bright House Networks Field. "It'll click, hopefully sooner than later."

In 36 at-bats this spring, Howard has two home runs and nine RBIs. He also has struck out 12 times. That's a slightly higher strikeout rate than the reigning National League MVP had last season.

"He's not seeing the ball, but he's OK," manager Charlie Manuel said. "I'm not worried about Ryan Howard."
