Newcomer Stoerner to start at QB

Soul coach Bret Munsey has made a mildly surprising decision concerning his most crucial position.

Clint Stoerner has been chosen to start at quarterback for the Soul tonight against Columbus, an interesting choice since Stoer-ner has had all of two practices with Philadelphia.

While Stoerner might not yet be able to find the Liberty Bell, he does have more AFL experience than Munsey's other option.

Stoerner has started 31 arena games, including two this season before being waived by Nashville. Before the AFL, he spent 3 years on the Dallas Cowboys' roster. Juston Wood, the Soul's other quarterback, has made just two career AFL starts.

Stoerner was signed by the Soul on Friday, 4 days after starting quarterback Tony Graziani suffered a separated shoulder in a loss to Dallas. Graziani will be out 4 to 6 weeks. Stoerner faced Columbus earlier this year, throwing five touchdowns and one interception in Nashville's Week 1 loss to the Destroyers. *
