Ellen Kaufmann scored 14 minutes into the second half for the only goal Central needed to beat Franklin Towne Charter, 1-0, in the PIAA District 12 Class AAA girls' soccer championship game yesterday at Northeast. The game also served as the Public League championship game.

Kaufmann booted a 25-yard shot that deflected off the crossbar into the goal, and Lancers goalie Christina Baker made three saves for the shutout.

In the first game of the doubleheader, Masterman won the District 12 Class AA title with a 5-1 victory over Philadelphia Academy Charter. Nicole Bracciale scored three goals, and Kyri Bennett and Emily Powell added one goal apiece. *
