Pre-summer heat rolls into region

Crank up the fan.

Summer heat has arrived in advance of the season's official start on Thursday, with the temperature expected to reach 91 degrees today and 92 tomorrow.

"It's going to be pretty warm," said Lee Robertson, meteorologist with the National Weather Service.

Yesterday's highs were 89 degrees in Philadelphia, 88 in Atlantic City, and 86 in Willow Grove.

According to the weather service, the temperature has already hit 90 twice so far this year, on May 31 and June 8.

Robertson said a weather pattern would bring warm air on a southwesterly wind today and tomorrow. A cool front tomorrow night will bring temperatures down on Wednesday, he said. The weather will then sink to a more seasonable level, into the mid-80s, he said.
