According to court records, Coleman had applied for and received a protection-from-abuse order in April from her estranged husband, Stanley L. Coleman, 46.
His father, Woodrow Coleman, said he received a call yesterday from his nephew telling him that Stanley had taken his own life.
"I was shocked," he said, adding that he had spoken to his son on Sunday. "I knew he and his wife were having problems, but I had no idea it was that bad."
Woodrow Coleman said his son had two teenage sons from a previous marriage.
"It's just awful," he said. "There's nothing more to say."
Autopsies for both people are scheduled for today, the Delaware County Medical Examiner's Office said.
Johnson said Christine Coleman had worked since November 1999 as a clerk in Foamex's accounts-receivable department, where she developed strong friendships and was known as a hard worker.
He said the company brought in counselors yesterday to assist people with the trauma. He said some employees witnessed the shooting, which took place at 7:52 a.m.
"There's a lot of hurt right now," Johnson said. "Many people are deeply grieving."
