Lange gets Senior Open spot

Posted: June 19, 2007

Overbrook Golf Club amateur Chris Lange birdied three of his last four holes at Glenmaura National Golf Club yesterday and earned one of two available berths for the USGA's 28th Senior Open Championship next month.

Lange, 52, also made an eagle on his 10th hole, the 550-yard first hole, by sinking a 93-yard wedge shot. Lange carded a 4-under-par 67, qualifying for the July 5-8 tournament at Whistling Straits (Wis.) for the second time in three years.

Tim Conley, a 50-year-old professional from Atlanta who is on his way to play in this weekend's Bank of America Championship on the PGA's Champions Tour, took medalist honors and the other available berth in a 73-player field with a 66.
