Joe and Amy McAtee are sweet on Doylestown borough.

The restaurant veterans (William Penn Inn in Gwynedd, the Landing in New Hope), making their debut as owners, have just opened Honey (42 Shewell Ave., 215-489- 4200), a sexy, warm bistro in the space near the Bucks County Courthouse that was a branch of La Pergola.

The McAtees, open Tuesdays through Saturdays for lunch and dinner, prefer grazing when they go out, so they've set up an ambitious new-American menu around small plates ($5 to $12). Menu is online at www.honeyrestaurant.com/menus.pdf.

Story continues below.

Traditional main dishes at lunch are $9 to $15. Dinner entrees start at $19. Top price last weekend ($33) was a dish called meat and potatoes: tastes of grilled tenderloin with potato cream; braised short ribs with honey mashed potatoes; and seared Kobe tartar with potato crisps, all on one plate.

Honey has an all-American wine list and an all-Pennsylvania beer list, plus a few signature cocktails.

What's new

Davide and Kathryn Faenza of South Philly's L'Angolohave just opened Salento, a rustic, white-tablecloth BYO with specialties from his Puglian roots, at 2216 Walnut St. (215-568-1314). Top entree: mixed grill for $24. It's open Tuesdays through Sundays for dinner.

Guinness now flows at St. Stephens Green (1701 Green St., 215-769-5000), the Irish pub owned by James Stephens of Black Sheep and Jeff Keel of Bishop's Collar. The old Cuvee Notredame has been carved into lively dining rooms and cozy nooks; it's open daily for lunch and dinner with a wide-ranging menu.

Franco Faggi, one of the original partners at Monte Carlo Living Room, has just opened Franco's Trattoria, a modern, seafood-centric Italian in the space off Kelly Drive that last housed Verge (address is alternately listed as 4116 Ridge Ave. or 4101 Kelly Drive; 215-438-4848). Everything on the menu is priced under $20, except for specials (veal chop, branzino). For now, it's dinner only and closed Mondays, but hours will expand into lunch. Bar features the usual, plus the Italian beer Moretti on tap.
