Posted: June 26, 2007

Early Saturday morning, police found a man with a severe head wound in the Belmont section of West Philadelphia.

Sunday, at 11 a.m., he died at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.

Today, David McBride, 47, became listed as the city's 198th homicide this year, according to Officer Beth DiDonato.

The cause was not an accident, but "blunt force trauma," she said.

He was discovered at 2:42 a.m. Saturday in the 3800 block of Olive Street.

McBride lived less than two miles away -- in the 400 block of North Sloan Street in University City.
