La Salle gets commitment from 6-4 North Carolina guard

Darryl Partin, a 6-4 guard by way of Charis Prep in Goldsboro, N.C., has signed to play at La Salle.

"Darryl gives us a talented and versatile player," head coach John Giannini said in a statement. "He is a good passer and ballhandler at the point position but also has the ability to score off the ball. He has the ability to guard players of different sizes especially the smaller, penetrating type of guards that hurt us at times last season. We feel he is a high-character person and are really looking forward to having him in our program."

It is the sixth addition to Giannini's program during the offseason. Partin joins guard Kyle Griffin, twin forwards Jerrell and Terrell Williams, forward Vernon Goodridge and 7-3 center Jameson Keefe.

Goodridge won't be eligible until the 2008-09 season and Keefe will probably be redshirted. Giannini will also return four sophomores who all saw significant time in their first season with La Salle.

Partin, a native of Seattle, played at Sanderson High in Raleigh before attending Charis for a year. At Charis, he averaged 23.8 points, four rebounds and four assists in leading the Crimson Tide to a 34-8 record.
