Mud Hens top Lynx; Reading takes opener

TOLEDO, Ohio — Ron Chiavacci pitched seven innings and Jack Hannahan drove in two runs as the Toledo Mud Hens beat the Ottawa Lynx, 5-2, yesterday in the International League.

Pedro Swann homered and drove in both Ottawa runs.

Reading 10, Harrisburg 4

HARRISBURG - Jim Magrane scattered seven hits while allowing just one run over six innings to give the Senators a split of the Eastern League doubleheader.

Chris Coste's two-run single capped a six-run sixth as the Phillies won the opener.

Camden 6, Lancaster 3

Denny Abreu and Dwight Maness led off the first with back-to-back home runs, and the Riversharks beat the Barnstormers in an Atlantic League game at Campbell's Field.

Randy McGarvey and L.J. Biernbaum also homered for the Riversharks.

Lynchburg 14, Wilmington 5

WILMINGTON - James Boone was 4 for 5 with two homers and five RBIs as the Hillcats beat the Blue Rocks in the Carolina League.

Grays 13, Atlantic City 6

ATLANTIC CITY - Anthony Bennett went 3 for 5 with three RBIs, and Chad Gabriel added a three-run homer as the Grays beat the Surf in the Can-Am League.

Trenton. The Thunder's Eastern League game at Altoona was rained out. It will be made up as part of a doubleheader at 6:05 tonight.
