Chris Palmer, a 6-foot-2, 285-pound guard and defensive tackle from Neumann-Goretti, gave an oral commitment to West Virginia this weekend.
The top senior defensive tackle in Pennsylvania according to the recruiting Web Site rivals.com, Palmer chose the Mountaineers over Colorado, Minnesota, N.C. State and Maryland.
"West Virginia was my lead school as soon as they offered," Palmer said. "I knew what I wanted, so I wanted to see if anyone could top it."
Palmer is the latest Catholic League product to give West Virginia a commitment. He will follow junior running back Steve Slaton (Conwell-Egan, 2005) and incoming freshman safety P.J. Shirdin (Monsignor Bonner, 2007) to Morgantown. West Catholic alum John Maddox, a wide receiver, transferred out of West Virginia this spring after a redshirt freshman season.
