Victorino comes up big again

Posted: July 02, 2007

Shane Victorino - all 5-9 and 180 pounds of him - finds himself with 17 career home runs in his brief major league career.

And luckily for Daily News readers, four of those 17 have come in the Home Run Payoff inning.

Yesterday, he belted his ninth homer of the season - and third Payoff winner - in the seventh inning of the Phillies' win over the Mets. In the process, he won $1,000 for Otis Goodwin, of Philadelphia.

There were 10 other winners in the Daily News Home Run Payoff contest over the weekend.

Phillies Gift Pack winners in the sixth inning of Saturday's game were:

Edward Everette, Philadelphia

Wayne Fargo, Bensalem

Eileen Cook, Philadelphia

Jerome White, Sicklerville, N.J.

Each winning a Phillies Gift Pack in the seventh inning of yesterday's game were:

Ann Dare, Mount Laurel, N.J.

Gary Dunlap, Glenolden

Marianne Carney, Norristown

Brian Kloska, Philadelphia

Nancy Tanni, Spring City

Gary L. Del Buono, Jeffersonville

The Daily News pays $1,000 for a home run hit in the Payoff inning and $10,000 for a grand slam.

Contestants whose batter fails to hit a home run receive a gift pack, which includes a variety of Phillies-related items.

This season, the Daily News has paid out $10,000. You can hear the Home Run Payoff inning during each Phillies broadcast on WPHT (1210-AM).
