Radnor board to vote on interim superintendent

Posted: August 01, 2007

Richard P. McAdams, a retired superintendent who led Chester County's Octorara School District for 16 years, has been tapped to become Radnor's interim superintendent, the township's Board of School Directors announced yesterday.

McAdams would oversee the schools for up to a year while the board searched for a permanent successor to Superintendent Gary Cooper, who announced in April that he will resign Aug. 31.

The board will hold a special meeting to vote on the selection at 7 p.m. tomorrow in the Black Box Theater at Radnor High School. McAdams is expected to begin work Friday and spend time with Cooper during a transition.

McAdams retired in 2000 from Lehigh University, where he taught graduate courses in the educational leadership program. He served as interim superintendent in the Coatesville Area School District in 2005. - Martha Woodall
