Mark Teixeira hit a three-run homer and drove in four runs in his Atlanta debut last night, leading the Braves to a 12-3 victory over the visiting Houston Astros.

Teixeira, acquired from Texas in Tuesday's seven-player trade, drew a bases-loaded walk in the first inning to drive in a run in his first plate appearance.

After Astros reliever Matt Albers walked Edgar Renteria and Chipper Jones in the sixth, Teixeira hit a 2-1 pitch over the wall in left-center for his first homer with the Braves and his 14th overall.

In other games:

* At Milwaukee, Ramon Castro and Marlon Anderson each hit three-run homers to power the New York Mets to an 8-5 win over the Brewers.

* At Miami, Byung-Hyun Kim (6-5) survived a 37-pitch first inning and had a career-high 10 strikeouts as the Florida Marlins held off Colorado, 4-3.

Kim needed 126 pitches to make it through 5 1/3 innings. He walked six, hit a batter, threw a wild pitch and allowed the Rockies to steal four bases.

* At Washington, John Lannan (1-0) took a shutout into the sixth inning and the Nationals went on to defeat Cincinnati, 7-2. Lannan was ejected in his major league debut against the Phillies last week after hitting consecutive batters (Chase Utley - who later turned out to have a broken right hand - and Ryan Howard).

* At Pittsburgh, Ronny Paulino hit a grand slam during a five-run first inning to lead the Pirates to a 15-1 win over St. Louis.

* At Los Angeles, the Giants' Barry Bonds went homerless and the Dodgers' Normar Garciaparra hit a two-run homer in the eighth inning to help lead LA over San Francisco, 6-4.

Noteworthy

* Marlins righthander Anibal Sanchez wants big-league pay while he's on the disabled list with a shoulder injury, and the Major League Baseball Players Association has filed a grievance on his behalf. The grievance contends he was injured when demoted to the minors, in violation of the collective bargaining agreement. The union said Sanchez should be on the major league disabled list, which would mean an additional salary of more than $1,400 per day. The Marlins said Sanchez didn't tell them about the injury until after he was demoted May 4 to Triple A Albuquerque.

* The Brewers sent slumping second baseman Rickie Weeks to the team's Triple A farm club in Nashville. Also, righthanded pitcher Scott Linebrink was placed on leave after the birth of his first child, the team said.

* The Braves cleared roster spots for newly acquired relievers Octavio Dotel and Ron Mahay by cutting first baseman Julio Franco and demoting righthanded reliever Jose Ascanio. The 48-year-old Franco, who was hitting .250, was signed by the Braves on July 18 after he was designated for assignment by the New York Mets on July 12.

* Pedro Martinez' first rehabilitation start was rained out, so he will throw a simulated game of 45 pitches against hitters from the Mets' Gulf Coast League team today. Martinez had rotator cuff surgery last Oct. 5 and threw to batters on June 26 for the first time after the operation.

In a move that might eventually make room for Martinez in the starting rotation, the Mets have moved starter Jorge Sosa (6-1) to the bullpen. *
