Olabaniji Abanishe has been selected as the head coach of Lincoln University's revived football program.

"I feel blessed and excited to have the opportunity to coach and teach at one of the most historically prevalent universities in the nation," Abanishe said. "I am excited and take pride in the fact that I will be able to lead young men on a campus that has seen the likes of Thurgood Marshall, Langston Hughes and Nnadmi Azikiwe."

Abanishe was the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at NAIA Langston (Okla.). Lincoln, which dropped football in 1960, will be an exploratory member of the NCAA Division II in 2008 and become a provisional member in 2009.

Abanishe's offense at Langston last year rolled up an average of 38.5 points per game and 388 yards. *
