Eagles Notes | Team not seeking a quarterback

Eagles Notes

General manager Tom Heckert said the team has no plans to bring in another quarterback, despite the hand injury suffered by backup A.J. Feeley in the preseason finale Thursday night against the New York Jets. Feeley underwent surgery Friday to repair the third metacarpal on his left hand.

"It's his left [non-throwing] hand, so it's probably more of a snap thing," Heckert said. "We'll see how this week goes, but he's going to get fitted for [a cushioning device]. It's not a big deal."

Heckert didn't know whether Feeley would practice this week.

Extra points

Heckert said the Eagles do not have interest in returner Bethel Johnson, who was released by the Houston Texans. Johnson, a veteran who played last season for Minnesota, had signed with the Eagles in the winter and was released during one of the spring minicamps. . . . The Eagles can establish a practice squad of eight players at noon today. Some likely candidates from the list of released players include defensive tackle Jeremy Clark, defensive end Marques Murrell, safety C.J. Gaddis and cornerback Rashad Barksdale.
