Redskins' OT Jansen likely out for year

LANDOVER, Md. - Redskins right tackle Jon Jansen seems likely to be lost for the season after dislocating his right ankle early in the second quarter of yesterday's 16-13 overtime win over Miami.

"From what we can tell, it looks pretty bad," coach Joe Gibbs said. "We'll have to wait and see what the doctors say.

"The guys all had a prayer for Jon. There's nobody that made greater preparation for this year. He has worked extremely hard."

The Redkins are expected to update Jansen's condition today. He was hurt when Miami linebacker Zach Thomas rolled onto Jansen's legs while sacking quarterback Jason Campbell. Jansen was taken off the field on a cart.

Jansen, who has struggled with injuries the last 3 years, immediately yanked off his helmet in agony as his teammates quickly surrounded him. Stephon Heyer, a rookie free agent, took Jansen's place.

"It takes away a little bit from the win," right guard Randy Thomas said. "I'm down about that. That's a blow, man. That's a rock." *
