Second arrest made in E. Camden fatal shooting

Posted: September 12, 2007

Bail was set at $1 million cash yesterday for Heriberto Pellot, a Camden man arrested Monday night in East Camden by sheriff's officers and charged with felony murder in a July shooting that killed one man and seriously injured another, authorities said.

Pellot, 28, and Moises Hernandez, 26, approached Cesar Severino and Edwin Saldivar on July 8 in the 1000 block of North 31st Street in East Camden, said Bill Shralow, spokesman for the Camden County Prosecutor's Office.

Pellot spoke briefly with Severino, then Hernandez opened fire on Severino and Saldivar; Pellot and Hernandez then robbed the two wounded men of cash and cocaine, officials said. Saldivar survived, while Severino died of his wounds.

Hernandez was arrested in Camden a few days later and remains in custody, Shralow said. - Sam Wood
